Jo Fenton BA Hons.

Following 15 years practical experience as a professional gardener in North London, Jo trained at Capel Manor Horticultural College. Here she earned qualifications in Garden Design, Horticulture and Hard Landscaping, along with winning the coveted Student of the Year Award for Garden Design.

In 2011 she set up Fenton Roberts Garden Design, with her now-retired partner, Anne Roberts. Going from strength to strength, Fenton Roberts Garden Design has become recognised for its understated, practical designs brought to life with generous amounts of beautiful planting.

Each Fenton Roberts garden is a unique creation, carefully tailored to your individual requirements and the garden setting. Jo truly enjoys the challenge of problem solving and approaches each design with an open mind.

Jo excels at choosing and combining plants that will thrive in your garden, complement your taste and remain easy to maintain for you or your gardener. She believes that plants are the core essence that bring a garden to life, connecting us to the natural world and relieving stress.

Railway Cottage Garden

Fenton Roberts designed two terraced areas of our apartment, with structural features (decking, planters and a screen), trees and plants, and irrigation.

Knowing nothing about gardening or what I really wanted, I found Jo Fenton attentive and sympathetic to my lack of ideas. She was skilful in drawing out what sort of things I like and admire and how these might be adapted to a London garden that is significantly shaded by a huge copper beech. Jo translated these ideas into a design for a woodland garden that was easy to imagine from the computer drawings. I felt that Jo was innovative about design and knowledgeable about planting. I was delighted by the end result and Jo, together with her partner, Anne Roberts kept me informed at every stage of the work, which was delivered on time and within budget.
