Plants and Bulbs To Make Your Garden Sing In April
While carrying out maintenance on some of the gardens that we have designed we were inspired to share with you some of the more colourful plants that we have used to herald the spring. The delicate blues and white of the late Winter bulbs have been replaced by fresh pinks, zingy greens, oranges and reds.
The chunky clumps of Euphorbia characias subsp wulfenii look spectacular with their wild acid yellow flower heads contrasting with the stunning magenta flowers of Bergenia ‘Overture’
We are really pleased with the Erythronium ‘Pagoda’ that we planted in this shady town garden last Autumn. Their subtle lemon flowers look wonderful with the intense purple of the hellebore orientalis popping up amongst evergreen ferns and grasses.
Aren’t tulips the most fantastically worthwhile indulgence in the Spring garden! These rich, velvety shades look like jewels sparkling in the sunshine.
The bright orange of Tulip ‘Ballerina’ looks great with the deep red of Tulip ‘Jan Reus’.
They also contrast well with the Euphorbia martinii.
Last weeks warm sunshine made us feel like Spring is really here.
